Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake Review
I love pink lippies and you will see me reviewing a lot of them. Today’s pick is “Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake 80” which is a Barbie pink shade and looked quite appealing and that was the reason I purchased it online. Revlon lip butters are very popular so I wanted to own a shade and what can be better than “pink”? Read on to know how it fared.
Price: Rs 600 for 2.55g
My Thoughts on Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake:
Revlon colorburst lip butter come in a cute and colorful packaging. The tube is silver but the cap is color coded of the same shade which is convenient especially if you have more than one these in your vanity. The cap is long so it can be a trouble to open and close the tube but I have never faced any such issue. The lipstick has a very mild vanilla scent which is not noticeable until you dig your nose in the tube like I did (lol). So, don’t worry even if you have sensitive nose.
The shade strawberry Shortcake is Barbie- pink which is just too cool for my skin tone. The shade has blue undertones and thus it looks way too pale and light on my medium complexion. This shade doesn’t suit me at all and makes me look sick. You know since the shade is extremely light I don’t think it will suit anyone. I have seen many girls complaining about the frosty and light shade and everyone has same feeling that the shade doesn’t look flattering. I regret purchasing this shade. The color just doesn’t work for me and gives my lips 80’s frosty finish.
The shade is quite moisturizing and one layer is enough to hydrate lips for hours. You know since the color doesn’t work me, I use this lipstick as a lip balm beneath my lipsticks. The buttery and slippery formula keeps my lips moisturized for around 2-3 hours which is the only thing I like about these lipsticks. The color stays for maximum one hour and then fades unevenly. Yes, it fades unevenly without leaving any tint. The low staying power must be because of the light shade but if you try to layer the shade it settles in fine lines and looks unflattering. So, you cannot layer it up which is again a disappointment.
Summing up the pros and cons:
- Packaging is attractive
- Glides easy
- Formula is hydrating
- The shade is too frosty and light
- The shade isn’t buildable
- Settles in fine lines
- Low stating power
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter-Strawberry Shortcake is a cool toned blued based pink which looks unflattering on my medium complexion and also on many fair skin toned ladies. The formula is good and it’s hydrating too. I would say that please try the shade before purchasing as it can look different on different skin tones. But for me, it’s a big NO… not recommended.
