Nivea Fruity Shine Lip Balm Watermelon Review
Seasons’ Greetings, Beauties!
Today, I wish to apprise you of a product that did not fare very well for me (Oh Dear, did I give it away already?) Do read on to discover what its shortcomings are and strengths, if any.
Price: Rs 140 for 4.8 grams. Different shopping portals offer it at varying prices ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 145, I wonder why.
The lip balm is encased in a white plastic retractable case with a pink cover that has the company and manufacturing details imprinted in blue and white. The cap tends to rotate even when the case is shut, but much to my relief, it has never come off until pulled open. The packaging is ordinary in every respect, be it sturdiness or visual appeal. To its credit, it hasn’t failed me until now.
It lends a very subtle pink tint to the lips that looks pretty enough to be worn by itself on regular days, say to college or while running errands. It is not as intense as to interfere with a lipstick’s pigmentation, so you can wear it under a lipstick without a second thought. I do not think the tint will show up at all save a glossy finish on darker lips.
Although the shade is named Watermelon, it smells distinctly of cucumber. The fragrance is mild and restricted to the bullet in the case. The teensy bit on lips does not retain any fragrance.
Its texture is extremely smooth and glides on your lips like molten butter! The light formulation that it is, it does not feel waxy or greasy on the lips. On the moisturizing front, this lip balm’s formulation is not acceptable. I dare say, it is one of the least moisturizing lip balms I have used. All it does is softening the lips, that too for only as much as 2-3 hours.
Peculiarly, it does not heal chapped lips at all! As the balm begins to wane away, I can feel the dry, jagged bits of my lips’ skin. I sincerely doubt if it has been manufactured for dry winter months. I feel it might do better in the remaining months of the year, when chapped lips are not a pressing concern.
The packaging mentions no SPF whatsoever.
1. Subtle pink shade, suitable for everyday application
2. Mild fragrance that does not linger on the lips
3. Light texture that rules out greasiness
4. Pocket friendly
1. No SPF
2. Not moisturizing enough for winter months
3. Stays for only around 2-3 hours
4. Does not heal damaged lips
Overall Rating: 2.5/5
I might have rated it 3.5, had my lips not been chapped.
Final Verdict: This lip balm does not stand up to winter’s severity. It might prove useful for people whose lips aren’t chapped or in moist months.
