Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick Roseate Motive Review
Hello denizens of TMB!
May the dawn of 2015 herald health and happiness and last but certainly not the least, beauty (outwardly and of spirit). Speaking of beauty of spirit, a munificent friend of mine made a present of this lipstick last year. I was delighted with the adorable gesture but was I pleased with this specific color from this particular brand? Read on to discover if I was impressed enough to recommend it to you beauties.
Price: Rs 400
My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in Roseate Motive
Lakme bid goodbye to its utilitarian packaging and how! The metallic rose gold case exudes a luxuriant aura, at a distinct variance from the shoddy maroon cases of the Satin I’ve owned till now. It is a tad heavier owing to its metallic structure. One has to pull the cap forcefully to remove the cover, which a glass-half-full person would infer as restrain from accidental uncovering. With oily, slippery or greasy hands, opening the case would be difficult. Needless to say, it makes for a travel friendly article that stays intact.
In the stick, it appears to be maroon and brown mixed in equal proportions. On the swatch, it transforms to a lighter, much flattering dark pink shade with red undertones. In my opinion, this shade is a befitting semblance to its floral muse. Glimmer particles hitherto unseen reveal themselves when the lipstick is applied. Much to my relief, the glitter is observable only when viewed closely, mostly understated and often invisible. Quite like watermarks in their behavior. It unambiguously, is not a 9 to 5 shade! It is a festive/party wear lipstick and a versatile one at that which is bound to suit every skin tone.
It is matte, soft and creamy, gliding effortlessly on to the lips. Well, so creamy that no matter how deft your application technique is, it will straggle beyond the edges of the lips. A liner is not just recommended but is a prerequisite. Line your lips with liner resembling in color and then go on to apply it all over the lips. This will contain the spreading and also add extra hour to its wear time. Alternatively, apply it with a lip brush for precise edges. Lip balm is not essential unless your lips are dry and chapped.
The color shows a fiery reddish pink on its first swipe itself. A second swipe is required to intensify the payoff. Further application will not add any intensity to the already sealed color.
9 to 5 staying power is a far-fetched claim, a marketing gimmick if you ask me. That aside it does stay for four to five hours, which is decent for a lipstick priced at Rs 400. You can increase its durability with a lip liner underneath. Also, when it wanes, it leaves a beautiful stain behind.
It emanates an extremely mild fragrance only when you hold the stick close to your nose. It is so mild that I cannot even describe it!
1. Stunning and sturdy rose gold metallic packaging
2. Pretty dark pink with orange undertones that most likely will suit everyone
3. Creamy texture that is easy to apply
4. Rich pigmentation that will never require more than two swipes
5. Lasts for up to five hours
6. Amazing for the price it comes for
1. A lip liner or a lip brush is a must to confine the lipstick within the edges of lips
Overall Verdict: If you cannot/don’t want to splurge on the big names, Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in Roseate Motive could be your ultimate festive/party pick.
