Hey Everyone ♥,
Since Winter is approaching I thought why not give our readers the insights into “How to take Care of Skin During Winter” & other winter essentials which I always keep handy.
Skin Care –
- Switch to soap free cleanser
Everyone loves the feeling of a squeaky clean face. A good lather with a foaming or gel face wash is so satisfying. But make sure not to use these types of cleansers in the winter months, because they make skin feel tight within minutes of rinsing them off which is not good. Soap-free, non-lathering cleansers have a neutral pH, so they don’t disturb the acidic pH of your skin and are much less drying.
For drugstore product I’d love using Bioderma Sensible H2O. It feels just like water and does a crazy-good job of removing all traces of makeup, even the waterproof kind, without irritating your skin in the slightest.
Cetaphil is other such product which always work wonders for every skin type.
- Try Exfoliation – I’d always trust The Nature’s Co Coffee face scrub. It’s gentle and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin.
Toner is not the necessary step since many toners contain alcohol which makes the skin dryer. Hence I prefer rose water as toner or sometimes Thayer’s Alcohol free Witch Hazel Toner. It is one the best toner I have ever tried.
Moisturizing is the most IMP step. So find the moisturizer which suits your skin type. Clinique moisture surge is the good choice. Kiehl’s ultra facial cream is other such option, a 24-hour moisturizer designed specifically to protect skin from harsh, cold weather conditions.
Lip Care –
- Always use lip scrub before applying the balm in the morning. I can swear by Lush Lip scrub which is home made and does not contain any chemical.
- Maybelline lip balm which is the best balm I have ever tried.
Hair Care –
Do not neglect your hair. Try to oil the scalp at least 2-3 times a week. Nice oil massage helps to keep your hair moisturized. Remember to tie the hair while sleeping. Always keep Hair masque handy for harsh winter conditions.
Body Care –
Use body butter which actually works. I always trust The Body Shop strawberry range but for Mumbai winters it is something very rich in texture. Remember 5 minute window to apply the body butter after bath as it will lock the moisture into the skin.
I am in search of good body butters. Any suggestion ?
For Hand cream I always trust Kama Ayurveda cream. It is not greasy and keeps my hands super soft.
Apart from the above follow a regime
- Drink lots of water
- Add leafy vegetables & seasonal fruits to your diet.
- Exercise for at least half an hour.
- You can always use drops of your favorite oil to the water you use for bath. It retains the moisture.
Hope these tips are useful. What do you think your winter care tips & beauty secrets are???♥
