Essence Clear and Matt Foundation 03 Sand
Anything which says “oil-free” attracts me and this was the only reason I purchased this foundation from the brand Essence. I have combination skin, dry on cheeks and only t-zone so most foundations don’t work for me and make my skin oily after few hours. I was not even purchasing this one but the “oil-free claim” and the SA convinced me and I ended up purchasing it. I have been using it for quite some time and today I will share my views with you.
Price: INR 349 for 30 ml
Unwanted shine doesn‘t stand a chance with the oil-free clear & matt foundation! Its special active ingredients absorb excess oil and give you a healthy, shine-free complexion – all day long! Vitamin e protects your skin from any impurities. Dermatologist tested.
My Experience with:
I really liked the simple yet practical packaging. It comes in a plastic squeeze tube which has a white cap on top which shuts tightly. The cap prevents leakage and thus one can travel along with it easily. The tube is sleek and the size is compact and it hardly takes any space in makeup bag. It has a nozzle which dispenses product and it allows you to choose how much of product you want and prevents wastage. I think it’s really hygienic because you don’t need to dip your fingers into it.
There were three shades available so I bought the darkest shade which is “03 Sand” because it has yellow undertones. The shade is a little light but after few minutes of application it melts into the skin completely and looks very natural. The foundation oxides after 5 minutes of application.
The texture is neither thick nor runny; it’s just perfect which blends easily with brush and even with fingers. I take a small quantity and dot the foundation on my entire face. Then using foundation brush, I blend it in outwards directions. At first, it looks white but after 5 minutes it blends completely into the skin and then it looks natural. It evens out my skin tone to a great extent. But the coverage is sheer to medium so it doesn’t completely hide the blemishes on my cheeks. I don’t have prominent dark circles so after using this foundation, I don’t use concealer as it takes acre of the minor darkness I have.
The best thing about this is that it is non-transferable. It doesn’t transfer on phones, tissues or hands which is amazing. It indeed gives a matte finish and I don’t even set my foundation with powder sometimes. The foundation will not suit people with dry skin because it’s oil-free and can accentuate dry patches easily.
It’s fragrance-free and for those who don’t like products with scent can pick this up. Once applied it stays for 5-6 hours easily without any touch ups and primer beneath.
- Price and quantity are justified
- Packaging is compact and travel friendly
- Texture is perfect which blends easily
- Suits my combination skin without making it oily or greasy
- Gives matte finish
- Doesn’t look patchy or cakey
- Doesn’t transfer
- Stays for good 5-6 hours without primer
- Fragrance free
- Doesn’t give full coverage
- No SPF provided
- Takes time in blending
Final Recommendation: Essence Clear and Matt Foundation is a medium coverage which is extremely light when applied and thus perfect to be used daily. The matte finish and the oil-free factor makes it ideal for people having combination to oily skin. It’s non-transferrable and long lasting. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for good everyday affordable base.
