Beauty UK Eye Shadow Palette No. 2 Soho review
I am back again with another review. This time it’s an eye shadow palette by Beauty UK called Soho, which is a collection of ten eye shadows in bright colours. Beauty UK is a family run business based in, as you might have already guessed it, the United Kingdom. It was only last year that its visibility in the Indian market increases dramatically.
Name of the Product:
Beauty UK Eye Shadow Palette No. 2 – Soho
The packaging comprises of a plastic case with a transparent lid. It comes with an applicator and a tiny mirror. The shadows are placed in small pans in the case.
The palette consists of ten bright colors with matte and satin finishes, a pink, an orange , a light green, a dark green, a French navy blue, an air force blue and a powder blue , a bright yellow, a lilac and a mauve. The powder blue shows up almost whitish on the skin, thus could be used for highlighting. In any palette, be it bright coloured or neutrals or whatever the color scheme, I need a matte skin coloured shade to be present for blending, which in the case of this palette is not present. I know it might not be an issue for many people, but it’s a disappointment for me.
The pigmentation of five shades is decent and that of the other five is not so good. However, even the color of the shadows with good pigmentation is not as intense as they seem in their respective pans. The shadows show up better when used in conjugation with a primer. Without the primer, I wouldn’t dream of using any of the shades of this palette. Also, they show up better if applied with fingers or the sponge applicator. Somehow, dabbing them onto the lids using a brush does not result in their showing up as bright and vivid as when using fingers or sponge applicators. Having said that, blending them is super simple. Their texture is buttery smooth.
The staying power of different shades are different. The ones with better pigmentation stay on for 4 hours without a primer and the rest would last for a maximum of two hours. With a primer on, the staying power increases by a maximum of two hours.
I don’t think seasoned make-up wearers are going to like this palette. But teenagers or people who are new to makeup, might like this palette for the fact that it is so cheap and therefore, can be used for practising the art of eye makeup.
- All matte and satin finishes.
- Lovely vibrant colours.
- Smooth texture.
- Easily blended.
- Cannot be used without a primer.
- Staying power is not good.
